Ada Rodriguez

Rodriguez came to Hartford from El Salvador in 1994 while attending the University of Hartford, where she studied psychology. She did not originally plan to stay in the United States after getting her degree; however, once she married her American husband, she decided to become a citizen and stay in the U.S. She now has two sons, and while they don’t visit El Salvador often, she thinks it is important for them to understand their Salvadorian heritage and the conditions in which she grew up.

Rodriguez is active in the Hispanic community in Hartford. She helped create the Central American Committee to celebrate the Independence Day of many Central American countries: September 15. In her professional work as a psychologist, Rodriguez enjoys being able to offer her services in Spanish, because she understands how difficult it can be navigating a language barrier.
